RCGP statement on GP appraisals - 20 November 2020
Coronavirus has, this week, officially been termed COVID-19 by the World Health Organization. The situation is changing all the time but as of today, there are nine confirmed cases in the UK and a number of GP practices have been temporarily closed – all practices in question have followed the correct procedures to keep both staff and patients safe.
Smoking tobacco is the single largest cause of preventable illness and premature death. This guidance provides a current understanding about where e-cigarettes may help with smoking cessation and the current understanding regarding their safety.
GP training must evolve to reflect and accommodate changes in health care. The continued success of general practice will require more GPs, with more training, spending longer with their patients.
The Council of the RCGP warmly endorsed and supported the definition in June 2002 and will embrace the principles, the definition and the associated competencies as appropriate in its policy development work.
