RCGP Faculty/Devolved Nation networks
Once you have been linked to a local RCGP faculty, you should take advantage of what they offer including welcome events, registrar workshops, exam prep sessions, and networking socials. Some have GP registrar community groups you can join. It’s important to be proactive to connect with your local faculty, as some may not correspond to your deanery.
RCGP GP registrar community group
This is a dedicated space for GP registrars to connect. Within this group the GP registrar representatives help shape the RCGP membership experience. Involvement in the community as a GP registrar representative provides the opportunity to:
- Attend local and national meetings to raise registrar concerns
- Help shape policies and improvements to training
- Organise events, wellbeing initiatives, and educational support
- Act as a bridge between GP registrars, deaneries, and the RCGP
RCGP annual conference
The Annual Conference is a great opportunity to meet with your GP registrar Chairs, colleagues and be part of the conversations and debates, network at the social events and build your professional relationships.
WhatsApp/Facebook Groups
Many GP registrars create informal WhatsApp or Facebook groups for each rotation, region, or exam cohort. Ask your GP Trainer, deanery admin, or registrar reps if one exists, or start one yourself.
Deanery Teaching Groups/Half-Day Release
Most deaneries run regular small group teaching sessions (weekly or fortnightly). These sessions are ideal for peer learning, case discussions, and building supportive local networks.
Top tips
Building these relationships early will make your training more enjoyable, less stressful, and much more connected.
