New chair of RCGP Cymru Wales

Dr Will Mackintosh has been elected as the next Chair of RCGP Cymru Wales. He will take up the post on 18 May 2026.

Will is a GP partner, trainer and clinical lead based in St Clears, Carmarthenshire. He has previously served RCGP as a First5 Lead, Faculty Chair and is a current Vice-Chair for RCGP Cymru Wales.

Following his election, Will thanked members of Welsh Council and paid tribute to current Chair Dr Rowena Christmas.

Will said:

“I am grateful to Welsh Council members for putting their trust in me to be their next Chair. Every new Chair builds upon the strong foundation laid by their predecessor and I am especially fortunate to be following Rowena. She has been a conscientious, innovative, and high-profile champion for general practice at a time of considerable challenges for Welsh GPs.”

Between now and taking office Dr Mackintosh as Chair-Elect will be working closely with current RCGP Cymru Wales Chair Dr Rowena Christmas.
