College announces election results 2026

The College is pleased to announce the successful candidates who have been elected to RCGP Council for a three-year term, beginning in November 2026.

They are (in alphabetical order):

  • Dr Toyosi Adeniji
  • Dr Azhar Chaudhry
  • Dr Chaand Nagpaul
  • Dr Selvaseelan Selvarajah
  • Dr Richard Vautrey
  • Dr Emma Wong

In a separate ballot,  Dr Rosalynn Morrin and Dr James Morton were elected to Scottish Council.

Also taking up new College positions from November are:

  • First5 Chair: Dr Tom France and Dr Deepthi Lavu
  • GP Registrar Chair: Dr Katy Chisenga
  • GP Registrar Vice Chair: Dr Ajay Krishnan

RCGP Chief Executive and Returning Officer Mark Thomas said: “Thanks to everyone who stood as a candidate and everyone who voted in our 2026 elections. Their participation is helping to shape the future of the College and our work at a crucial time for general practice, our GP members, and the patients they care for.”

RCGP President Victoria Tzortziou Brown said:

"Congratulations to everyone who has been elected to serve the College, and my sincere thanks to all those who stood for election. The willingness of so many members to put themselves forward reflects the strength, commitment and diversity of our profession.

“Council plays a vital role in shaping the future direction of the College and ensuring that the voice of general practice is heard at every level. I look forward to working with our newly elected colleagues, alongside existing Council members, as we continue to champion high-quality general practice, support our members and advocate for the patients and communities we serve. I would also like to thank our outgoing Council members for their dedication, expertise and service to the College over the past three years."
