Statement on Channel 4 documentary

In response to an article on the Channel 4 website announcing a documentary about ADHD, the RCGP would like to make clear that the quote attributed to a former College President was not made on behalf of the College.

The College recognises ADHD as a neurodevelopmental condition and supports evidence-based care for people with ADHD in line with current national guidance.

Now that the documentary has aired*, the College would like to clarify that we were not involved in its production or approached to be interviewed for it and reiterate that no one featured in the programme was speaking on behalf of the RCGP. Our above statement on ADHD still stands.

The College has hosted educational events to support GPs with the care of patients with ADHD and has produced a framework for GPs who want to develop an 'extended role' in ADHD, which signposts to external resources, including national guidelines.
