RCGP Inspire Awards 2026 receive record number of nominations

The Royal College of General Practitioners has today announced the finalists for our Inspire Awards 2026, after receiving a record 311 nominations, more than double the number submitted for the last awards in 2024.

Held every two years, the Inspire Awards recognise RCGP members who volunteer their time to support College activity and make an outstanding contribution to their peers, their communities and the wider profession. They also shine a light on inspirational and often unsung GPs whose work may not previously have been formally recognised by the College.

This year’s awards include 11 new categories, reflecting the breadth of talent, leadership and dedication shown by College members across general practice.

Finalists were nominated by other members, with all awards shortlisted or decided by panels made up of College members, elected Officers, committee leads and representatives,  the RCGP Executive Management team, and previous award winners.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at 30 Euston Square on 21 May 2026.

Professor Victoria Tzortziou Brown, Chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners, said:

“The Inspire Awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise the remarkable contribution our members make to the College, to one another, to their patients, and to general practice right across the UK.

“What makes the Inspire Awards  especially meaningful is that they are our own College awards, nominated by our own members, for members. They celebrate not only established leaders, but also inspirational colleagues whose dedication, compassion and commitment might not be recognised otherwise. .

“We have been delighted to see a record number of nominations this year, which is testament both to the hard work of our members and to the strength of feeling across the profession about celebrating one another’s achievements.

“At a time when general practice continues to face intense pressure, it is more important than ever that we recognise and champion those who go above and beyond to support patients, colleagues, communities and the future of our profession.”

The Inspire Awards celebrate members whose contributions embody the values of the College and continue to inspire general practice today and into the future.

More information about the award categories can be found in RCGP Awards 2026, and further details about the finalists are available in the Inspire Booklet 2026.
