Becoming a member of the MRCGP panel

The RCGP manages the development and delivery of the MRCGP, the licensing assessment for independent practice as a GP in the UK. The MRCGP has three components:

We are committed to a fair, robust and transparent process for the selection of MRCGP examiners in line with Academy of Medical Royal College and General Medical Council (GMC) Requirements.

We advertise vacancies within the panel of examiners only when they arise. This typically depends on the number of retirements within the year. The invitation to submit applications is normally advertised in January of the year in which recruitment occurs.

The RCGP values diversity and is committed to recruiting examiners from as broad a base as possible. We collect equality and diversity data about examiners and will take steps where necessary to encourage applications from underrepresented groups on the panel. MRCGP examiners are an important education and training resource for deaneries and local education and training boards (LETBs), and we also seeks to ensure appropriate representation of examiners where possible throughout the four nations.

We are not currently considering applications for new MRCGP examiners. If you are interested in applying, please keep checking this page. We will update it with recruitment information and application criteria when a vacancy becomes available. A waiting list is not maintained.
