Republic of Ireland Faculty
Welcome from Republic of Ireland Faculty, we are a group of volunteer RCGP members who provide local networking, education and support for members in the area. The Faculty supports almost 500 members, Fellows and Associates across the Republic of Ireland. The Faculty has a particular interest in supporting our members' CPD and professional development and provide a range of educational meetings, tailored to local needs, as well as bursaries and awards to support and recognise innovation and development.

Board meetings
We meet four times per year in February, June, September and December to progress our local engagement activities and discuss issues pertinent to our members, which are then fed back to College Council. Our next meetings will be:

Winter meeting and dinner
The Republic of Ireland Winter meeting and dinner will take place on Saturday 2 December 2023 at the Stephens Green Club, 9 St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2.
Our guest speaker Prof Louise Dubras (Foundation Dean of the School of Medicine at Ulster University and GP) will make an address “General Practice past, present and future through the medical education lens”.
Presentations will be made by the Sheppard Memorial Prize winners (undergraduate and postgraduate).
This event will cost €55 for members of RCGP and €60 for non-members RCGP.

Spring meeting
The Republic of Ireland Spring meeting will take place on Saturday 30 March 2024. More details to follow soon.

RCGP Fellowship
October 2023
We have a Faculty Fellowship Committee to consider and support the nomination process. The Republic of Ireland has a very active Fellowship programme with several distinguished General Practitioners due to receive their Fellowship later this year. If you wish to join the Fellowship committee or know of a GP who would be suitable for a nomination please contact us. Please view RCGP Fellowship for more information.

Clinical Cases Presentation Competition 2024
The final of the Clinical Cases Prizes Competition will be held at the Republic of Ireland Faculty Spring Meeting 2024.

Sheppard Memorial Essay Competition 2023
This essay competition is open to all undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors who are within five years of completing general practice training. The closing date for the 2023 competition was Friday 27 October 2023. When selected, the winning essays will be published here:
