Daffodil Standards training videos

These training videos have been developed to help general practice teams strengthen their knowledge, confidence, and quality of care for patients approaching the end of life. These short, practical films showcase real examples of how the Standards can be embedded into everyday primary care, supporting teams to reflect, learn, and continuously improve.

Among the featured resources is supporting people with learning disabilities and their carers through advanced serious illness, end of life care and bereavement. This video offers valuable guidance on recognising and addressing the unique needs of people with learning disabilities, and on providing sensitive, coordinated support for their families and carers throughout the end-of-life journey. This video is presented by Irene Tuffrey-Wijne, Professor of Intellectual Disability and Palliative Care.

The Daffodil Standards in Practice: Advance care planning in care homes, highlights how effective communication, collaboration, and early planning can help ensure patients’ wishes are understood and respected. This video was presented by Dr Anna Down, who is the care home for older people Daffodil Standards award winner 2023.

Together, these videos demonstrate how the Daffodil Standards provide a free, evidence-based framework to help practices self-assess and consistently deliver the best possible care for patients and those close to them. They aim to inspire all members of the general practice team to make small, sustainable improvements that have a lasting impact on patient experience, staff wellbeing, and the overall quality of end-of-life and bereavement care.

Additional videos will be added over time to expand this library of learning and showcase more examples of best practice from GP teams across the UK.

Watch and learn from real examples of the Daffodil Standards in action across general practice.
