Daffodil Standards awards
Now in their third year, the Daffodil Standards Awards shine a spotlight on the outstanding work of GP practice teams in improving palliative and end of life care—achievements made all the more remarkable for being delivered with compassion and dedication in the face of immense pressures.
From GPs to receptionists, social prescribers, care coordinators, and practice managers, we invited nominations for those who have gone above and beyond to provide exceptional care. The response this year has been truly inspiring.
As a member of the judging panel reflected: “The innovation, creativity and compassion displayed by practice teams was truly remarkable.”
We hope that even more practices will take part in the coming year, exploring the tools, using the resources, launching their own quality improvement projects, and applying for the awards. Together, we can continue to raise the standard of end of life care for every patient and every family.

Why it matters
GPs and general practice teams remain central to end of life care, providing essential support to patients with advanced and serious illnesses, and coordinating care across the wider health system. Yet we know that around one in four people each year still do not receive the end of life care and support they need. That gap reminds us why this work matters so deeply.
