This one-day interactive course has been designed for those planning to take the AKT component of the MRCGP. It will assist with your exam preparation and revision for the MRCGP AKT examination, focusing on high yield and difficult curriculum topics, including the topics trainees often forget to include in their revision and help with your exam technique.

Online | Thrive in First5 (Cohort 6)

Thrive in First5 is a new programme designed to support Scotland-based GPs in their first five years post-qualification. Led by an experienced GP coach, it offers workshops with practical tools and techniques, short webinars throughout the year, an annual networking event, and ongoing peer support via a closed WhatsApp group. The course runs online across three half-day sessions (09:00–13:00) on Friday 7 August, Friday 21 August, and Friday 4 September 2026.

Edinburgh | RCGP Scotland Certificate in the Management of Problem Drug Use Part One

This one-day, in-person course focuses on a holistic approach to helping people who use drugs in Scotland. Designed for people working at a generalist level in Scotland, this course can be completed in isolation or used as an introduction to Part Two. Participants will gain knowledge of practical harm reduction, drug death prevention, medication assisted treatment (e.g. methadone, buprenorphine), support for families and recovery journeys.

Appraisal Made Easy - September 2026

Join us for an afternoon of getting the most from your appraisal. We look at tips on how you should prepare, how appraisal has changed since covid, toolkits and much more. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions of the speaker who has been an appraisal lead for NHS England and NHS Improvement North West since 2008. This event is aimed at new GPs, however, all GPs welcome to attend this event.

Did you know that RCGP is made up of a network of faculties, a unique infrastructure that supports members wherever you are? For members based across the Lothians, Scottish Borders and South Fife, you're part of the South East Scotland Faculty. Members of all career stages are invited to this informal networking event at xxx to meet your local representatives, understand the role of the Faculty Board and connect with peers from across the area. Food and networking from 18:00-19:15, followed immediately by the quarterly Board Meeting at 19:30, those interested can stay on to observe.
