We award fellowship in recognition of a significant contribution to medicine, and general practice in particular. Fellows are ambassadors for RCGP.
Fellowship is an honour and mark of achievement recognising a significant contribution to:
- health and welfare of the community
- science or practice of medicine
- aims of RCGP, or any organisation which benefits general practice

Nomination
The candidate or nominee, nominator and two seconders must each complete a form and a supporting statement.
Nominators should set out their reasons for recommending the candidate in up to 500 words.
Each seconder must provide a supporting statement of up to 400 words.
Candidates should provide max 1000 words and may wish to structure their statement around the six potential achievement categories .

Submission and election
As a nominator you should submit the completed forms to the candidate’s local Faculty.
The Faculty’s fellowship committee will consider the application and make a recommendation to our Council.
Approved candidates are formally elected as fellows at our annual general meeting or spring meeting.
Candidates must pay a one off fee of £499 before their formal election.

International Fellowship
Just like our UK Members, International Members are eligible for International Fellowship, or FRCGP[INT]
The criteria are the same for both UK and International Fellowships, but the process differs slightly. International Fellowship applications or nominations are considered by the International Faculty Fellowship Committee (IFFC).

Submission and election
You should email completed paperwork to the RCGP International Faculty, for consideration by the Faculty’s fellowship committee.
The International Faculty fellowship committee considers the application, then makes a recommendation to our Council. Approved candidates are formally elected as fellows at the our AGM or spring meeting.
