About us
Welcome from the South West Wales Faculty. We support members throughout their careers by providing educational events, professional development opportunities, local networking and representation. We also ensure that the views and experiences of general practice across South West Wales are represented within RCGP Wales and the wider College.
Get involved
Faculty Board
The South West Wales Faculty Board is made up of local GP volunteers, lay representatives and members from groups including First5 GPs and GP registrars. The Board supports local networking, education and member engagement, while ensuring that local issues and perspectives are represented at RCGP Wales and RCGP Council.
We meet four times a year and welcome local members to attend as observers and contribute to discussions. We are always keen to hear from enthusiastic volunteers who would like to get involved and help shape the future of general practice in South West Wales.

BLS for Healthcare Professionals This 2-hour CPD accredited course covers Basic Life Support and other emergencies for any healthcare professionals working in primary care.

Intercultural Communication Skills for GPS
A multicultural workplace is enriching but it can also bring its own communication challenges. This highly practical and thought-provoking workshop provides the opportunity to explore these challenges and to develop strategies that facilitate clearer communication. The workshop is aimed at GPs who work in culturally and linguistically diverse settings and are keen to improve communication with patients and/or colleagues. The workshop will offer support for both GPs who are English speaking and GPs who speak English as an additional language. Whether you're navigating idioms, accents or cultural cues, this workshop is designed with you in mind. If English isn't your first language, you'll find practical tools to help overcome common barriers and grow in confidence when communicating with patients and peers.

This SCA preparation course is designed to help ST3s who are preparing to sit their SCA examination. The day will involve our lead facilitator showing you how to structure and manage your consultations to give you the best possible chance of success in the SCA exam.

Fellowship, prizes and awards
Fellowship
If you've been a member of the College for five years or more, you may wish to apply for Fellowship – the College’s highest membership grade.
Fellowship is a mark of distinction that recognises your contribution to general practice, your commitment to the profession and the impact of your work.
There is no fee to apply, and applications are completed online. Visit the RCGP Fellowship page for details on eligibility and the application process.
