City Health Conference 2019 – Health and ‘appiness, technology in primary care

The City Health Conference is the most important London-wide primary care event that Local RCGP Faculties get to host. This year we are expecting approximately 300 primary care professionals to attend including GPs and GP trainees, practice managers, nurses, pharmacists, allied health care professionals, researchers, secondary care consultants, public health professionals, health policy experts and commissioners. The conference will be focusing on Technology. Following on from the success of our 2017 event, the programme will include plenary discussions and interactive workshops with prominent health care leaders and technology experts. The aim will be to share learning on innovative practice, debate and network. Urology Controversies

The Royal Surrey County Hospital has a new 6-million-pound urology unit, primarily to screen for prostate cancer. They have increased the number of consultants from 2 to 10, they also have the best robotic surgical equipment for prostatic surgery in Europe. The evidence for PSA screening has changed and we need to know about it, the UK is currently 18th in Europe behind Slovenia in early detection of prostate cancer and this needs to change. GP’s need to know and be involved in making improvements here.

Paediatric Allergy 2019 - GP Study Day

The event will focus on allergic disease in children addressing common issues faced in general practice including coughing and wheezing; managing rhinitis, aero allergens for school age children; food allergy and asthma; seasonal eczema and environmental triggers. Attendance by nurses and health visitors as well as fully qualified doctors GP registrars and foundation doctors.

Essential Dermatology Series 2 "with PCDS"

In partnership with the Primary Care Dermatology Society (PCDS) this course is aimed at GPs and VTS registrars primarily, but would also be appropriate for specialist nurses involved in skin care. Indeed anyone examining patients about their skin lesions would benefit.

Managing Risk, Allergens and Wheeze for School Aged Children

This is the another in our series of joint study days hosted by the Allergy Academy and the Royal College of General Practitioners, SW Thames Faculty. Our aim is to equip healthcare practitioners with the skills and confidence necessary to diagnose and manage allergic disease in the community. This time we focus particularly on allergic disease (food allergy, asthma, rhinitis and eczema) in children.
