RCGP Scotland | 2 Day Minor Surgery Course

This two-day course is open to trainees, General Practitioners and Practice Nurses and will enable attendees to develop the skills required to run a successful minor surgery service in primary care. Topics covered include; minor skin procedures and non-surgical techniques, as well as advice about how to set up a service and the medico-legal and contractual obligations required of those practicing minor surgery.

Dealing with aggression at the GP Reception

Incidents of aggressive behaviour towards GP reception staff seem to be on the rise. In this informative and sensitive training session we examine the reasons and causes behind this issue, uncover a range of unique skills and approaches to de-escalation and what to do in situations where we can’t. RCGP Scotland is hosting this training for all non-clinical staff from practices in Scotland.

Watchtree Nature Reserve

Cumbria family fun and wellbeing day at Watchtree Nature Reserve

Join us on this fascinating ‘back to nature’ day out at Watchtree Nature Reserve. There are lots of adventures to be had when visiting the reserve, including walking the many trails, spotting the diverse wildlife, and just getting yourself immersed in nature. On the day we hope to walk the trails, spot and talk about the wildlife, flora and fauna, see some of the resident deer and maybe even try a spot of pond dipping. Later we will dry off around the campfire. Please feel free to bring a packed lunch or snacks to enjoy around the fire. Throughout, we will be supported by a trained nature guide. The afternoon is then free for you to do as you please. Open to all members, their family and friends.

West Country Water Park

Severn Introduction to open water swimming

Severn Faculty have organised an opportunity to try open-water swimming. A group of up to 10 individuals with varying levels of experience will be invited to the West Country Water Park for an introduction to open water and wild swimming. This event is free for RCGP Members and costs £25 for non-members.

This open-to-all training course aims to improve your consultation skills and as a result pass your SCA. The course offers interactive sessions with experienced trainers and examiners, a highlight being Dr Roger Neighbour, a renowned teacher on the skills of communication within the GP consultation.
