UK Consensus Conference on Acute Medicine - 13th & 14th
November 2008
The most recent definition of acute medicine as that part of
general (internal) medicine concerned with the immediate and early
specialist management of adult patients suffering from a wide range
of medical conditions who present to, or from within hospitals,
requiring urgent or emergency care comes from the Royal
Colleges. Does the service agree, and does the present delivery of
acute medicine meet this definition?
In an attempt to provoke discussion and develop a consensus on
these and other related issues, RCPE, SAM and RCGP Scotland would
encourage you to attend this Consensus Conference on Acute
Medicine. The Chair, Deputy Chair and the Immediate
Past Chair of RCGP Scotland (Dr Ken Lawton, Professor Trevor Gibbs
and Dr Mairi Scott respectively) are all involved in the delivery
of this Conference. Come and make sure your views are
known.
Ukraine Travelling Fellowship
Award
RCGP Scotland invites Scottish members of the Royal College of
General Practitioners to apply for our new award, the Ukraine
Travelling Fellowship Award.
RCGP Scotland established this award with the Ukraine
Association of Family Medicine, and the successful candidate will
be provided with financial support to take
forward previous work into the second phase of
development. For further details on this award and
the application process, please look here.
Modular Quality Practice
Award (mQPA)
The evolution of QPA sees the
development of a new modularised version which aims to encourage
non QPA GP practices to undertake a more manageable, modularised
approach to the award. Instead of having 18 months to
complete QPA, practices will have 5 years in which to complete six
modules. The Pilot is now officially launched!!!
If you wish to declare your interest in the mQPA please contact
Claire Godley on cgodley@rcgp-scotland.org.uk.
A letter
to members from RCGP Scotland Chair, Dr Ken Lawton on
the issue of the GMS Contract Negotiations was e-mailed on Tuesday
