About us

East Scotland Faculty supports over 540 members, Fellows, Associates and Associates in Training in Tayside and North Fife.

As well as a range of CPD initiatives, we run a very successful Doctors Group, named the Norma Smith Doctors Group (formerly Women Doctors Group) which meets monthly on a Wednesday evening. The group is open to all doctors in our Faculty area. We also run a First5 GP Group locally who meet quarterly for supper followed by an educational talk. Events are always able to be booked online.

Getting Involved

We rely on members to play an active role locally, promoting the College aims and objectives. It is essential to raise and maintain awareness of demographic issues and needs of GPs and patients alike, and develop initiatives to support these. If you would like to find out more about becoming involved with the faculty we would be delighted to hear from you.

Faculty News

  • Poster Award awarded to a GP Registrar for submitting and presenting a poster relevant to their own experience in general practice

Annual Lecture

The John Lawson Lecture is held annually and highlights a current topic or interest. This year's lecture took place on Thursday 22 June, Hilton, Dundee. Dr Peter Ewing, GP Red Practice in Crieff talked about GP Resilience in Testing Times. This was entertaining and thought provoking and was well attended by local members and with a lot of discussion after the talk.

Annual General Meeting

We combine our AGM with our Annual dinner into a social event to encourage members to get together. The 2017 AGM took place at the Malmaison, Dundee on Tuesday 26 September 2017. This was followed by a short local awards ceremony. The 2018 AGM and Annual Dinner will take place around September 2018 and details will follow in due course.
