The Faculty supports over 370 members, Fellows, Associates and Associates in Training in the East, South and West Cumbria region.
As well as a range of CPD initiatives, we host the popular ‘Palliative Care Distance Learning Course’ run in conjunction with Teesside University. We also support a very active Women’s GP Group in the south of Cumbria, set up to encourage networking between women GPs, the group meets three times a year. This is an excellent opportunity to obtain and provide support to GPs who are potentially professionally isolated.
We also support regular meetings for Sessional GPs and First5's
We rely on members to play an active role locally, promoting the College aims and objectives. It is essential to raise and maintain awareness of demographic issues and needs of GPs and patients alike, and develop initiatives to support these.
If you would like to find out more about becoming involved with the faculty we would be delighted to hear from you.
All members are invited to attend board meetings as an observer. If you would like to discuss any item covered or would like an item to be considered at a future meeting, please contact us.
Please come along and get involved in local Faculty activities. Your opinions matter to us and with all the changes going on in general practice at present, the Faculty can help you.
E-Bulletin. To reduce the amount of emails which keep bouncing in to your In-boxes, the College has created an e-bulletin for Faculties to send out periodically, which will include links and information in one email. We hope you will read this and give us your feedback.
Dates of Faculty Board Meetings:

We are happy to offer local support and advice to established GPs considering obtaining membership by assessment of performance (MAP). Please contact us if you would like to know more.
What is MAP?
In addition to our education programme, we also have a well established social calendar to encourage members to get together. These include our Annual Branston Lecture and Dinner, and our Fellows Dinner.
