We support over 1850 members, Fellows, Associates and Associates in Training in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire.
We rely on members to play an active role locally, promoting the College aims and objectives. It is essential to raise and maintain awareness of demographic issues and needs of GPs and patients alike, and develop initiatives to support these.
If you would like to find out more about becoming involved with the faculty we would be delighted to hear from you.

The last Faculty Board meeting was held on Wednesday 21 September 2016 . The next Board meeting will be the AGM, to be held on the evening of Wednesday 16 November at the Lambert Arms, Aston Rowant near Thame. All are welcome to attend - you will have received the notice and invitation via email. The evening will include a FREE buffet supper, and we are delighted to welcome
Dr Edward Sharples, Consultant Nephrologist, OUH NHS Trust. He will speak on Acute Kidney Injury - AKI in the community, new alerts and primary care bundles. More details and book online here.
All members of the Faculty are invited to attend Board meetings, please contact us at email@example.com for more information.
We run an extensive education programme for all of our Members. Feedback from all our events, from both delegates and speakers is always positive. Details of the next few events can be accessed using the 'Upcoming Events' box on the right of this screen. To find details of all of our events for the forthcoming year and to book online to these, please click here.
The WONCA Europe Conference 2017 will be held in Prague, from 28 June - 1 July, its theme being "Growing together in diversity". A bursary in the amount of £1000 for GP trainees will be available again this year. Details about the application process for the bursary will be published mid-March. The successful applicant must attend the whole conference, including the pre-conference, and will be asked to present a report on their attendance to the Faculty Board. The bursary will cover flights, subsistence, accommodation and attendance at the WONCA Conference events.
First5 support: Welcome!
We are in the process of reviving our programme of evening First5 CPD groups in Oxford and Buckinghamshire which are free of charge to new GPs.
These are based at local GP surgeries and hospitals and include First5, GP and consultant led sessions. The sessions led by First5 members include case based discussions, sharing prescribing errors and learning and focused topics. As well updating knowledge these small group sessions are an invaluable chance for First5s to support each other and share experiences, concerns and achievements.
The next such meeting will be held on 09 November at the Manor Hospital, Oxford, when we plan an evening of speed mentoring. We already have some great facilitators lined up. Book online here or via our events page, or contact our Faculty Administrator, Sarah Wright.
Our representative for Bucks is Samar Bhutoria, and for Oxon is Caroline Ward.
If you are interested in setting up a CPD group in another area of the Faculty we’d be happy to provide advice and support please contact the Faculty Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Faculty also has a well-established social calendar to encourage members to get together. Plans for the 2016 Annual General Meeting (AGM) are also underway and further information about the event is above.
Our Faculty Bulletin is published once a month on the fourth Tuesday and contains details about all Faculty activities as well as information about RCGP central innovations and education. If you do not receive a copy in your mailbox, contact us. Your views and contributions are always welcome!
