The North and West London Faculty are running an interactive theory and practice course designed to prepare those new to these skills to undertake minor surgical procedures. The course is also ideal for those already performing procedures who need to update or refresh their knowledge and skills. The course meets the DoH requirement (2014 DES minor surgery contract) for formal assessment of competency by the inclusion of Direct Observation of Procedural Skills (DOPS) assessments during practical skills sessions. Learners will view videos, demonstrations and undertake minor surgical skills under tutor guidance and observation. Small group work, question and answer sessions, illustrated presentations and practice kits, skin pads and suture models enhance the learning opportunities, build confidence and enhance surgical techniques and skills. Delegates will get 10 CPD points for completing this course.

The focus of this course is to improve confidence, knowledge and skills of General Practitioners in assessing and diagnosing common musculoskeletal conditions in the primary care setting. This will include common traumatic injuries encountered, both acute and chronic and also common non-trauma related musculoskeletal presentations.
