EquIP Cymru
EquIP Cymru is a non-statutory
collaborative partnership of stakeholders in Wales, which developed
in 2005 with a commitment to the delivery of promoting disability
awareness and access within primary care settings such as surgeries
and practices across Wales. Changes to the nGMS contract have
and will place further requirements on surgeries to ensure that
access for those who are physically and mentally impaired is
achieved. EquIP is the conduit through which this change can
take place.
The Royal College of General
Practitioners, acting as a conduit, has sponsored and organised a
series of steering group meetings in Wales designed to explore the
issues for disabled patients accessing appropriate services in
primary care. The positive responses to these meetings
have encouraged the group to further explore the available
resources and existing practice available throughout the
principality in order to achieve and promote access.
