Update on Gastroenterology - 21st March 2012
(Cross Border Event)
Wednesday 21st March saw the Royal College of General
Practitioners Northern Ireland hold its second Cross Border Event.
Held in the Everglades Hotel in Derry, the event provided delegates
with an update on Gastroenterology. Guest speakers included Dr
Chris Steele (Consultant in Gastroenterology at Letterkenny General
Hospital) and Dr William Dickey (Consultant in Gastroenterology at
Altnagelvin Area Hospital). This course provided an update on the
following areas:
- Abnormal LFTS
- Coeliac Disease - change in the patient demographic (modern
presentation)
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Bowel Cancer Screening
Over 25 delegates attended the event and the feeback was more
than positive. RCGP Northern Ireland would like to thank everyone
who attended and participated on the day, with a special word of
thanks to GSK and Reckitt Benckiser who kindly sponsored the
event.

First5 Event
On Wednesday 14th March, the Royal College of General
Practitioners Northern Ireland held its first 'First5' Event. Held
in the Radisson Blu Hotel in the Gasworks Belfast, topics for the
event included:
- The Business of General
Practice
- Ophthalmology Update
- Appraisal & Small
group learning
- Interview techniques for small
group learning
