The following links and resources have been provided to help you maintain your professional standards as a qualified GP.
Safeguarding
Current requirements for safeguarding training for all primary care staff, for children and adults, are summarised in the document below.

The RCGP also provides a range of resources in relation to child and adult safeguarding.
Basic Life Support
GPs are expected to have a Basic Life Support update annually. Although it is not directly relevant to a doctor’s revalidation recommendation, evidence of annual BLS updates can be included as CPD in the appraisal portfolio so it is visible to the appraiser. The requirements for BLS training are determined locally.
Further information about BLS can be found on the Resuscitation Council UK website.
Taking a break from UK practice
GMC guidance about planned and unplanned breaks from practice and working overseas can be accessed below.
Additionally, the RCGP has produced an audio guide on breaks from practice.
The RCGP provides guidance on returning to UK general practice and the Return to Practice Programme
Extended roles
The RCGP has produced a guide to GP Clinical Extended Roles.
The RCGP does not accredit GPs with Extended Roles (GPwERs), but (with the Primary Care Dermatology Society) we are supporting the British Association of Dermatologists to provide an accreditation programme for dermatology GPwERs.
