The mental health clinical priority focuses on promoting parity of esteem with physical health, inter-professional working, the role of general practice in managing patients in the community, depression and long term conditions, as well as training and education. Please find below a range of resources to support general practitioners.

RCGP Mental Health toolkit

The College has produced a toolkit featuring regarding the diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems. This toolkit offers a primary care orientated directory of resources that GPs and other healthcare professionals may access to assist in their diagnoses, as well as helping them to communicate better with patients. It also provides resources for those concerned about their own mental health issues.

Perinatal Mental Health

This toolkit is a set of relevant tools to assist members of the primary care team to deliver the highest quality care to women with mental health problems in the perinatal period. As well as offering a diverse collection of resources, the Perinatal Mental Health Toolkit gives details of additional learning for individual practitioners.

Autistic Spectrum Disorders

Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects at least 1% of the population. Traditionally it has been thought to have a male preponderance, although increasingly more girls and women are diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum. This Autism Toolkit aims to be a 'one stop shop', a user-friendly guide to autism for primary care professionals, people affected by autism, clinical commissioning groups, as well as interested members of the general public.

Eating disorders

Although eating disorders have a significant impact on nutrition and eating behaviour, they are fundamentally classified as mental health conditions. The resources here enable aspects of both mental and physical health to be addressed.
