Digital Therapeutics

With over 300,000 digital health and wellness apps for people seeking to improve their health, there are challenges faced by healthcare professionals in prescribing these apps and advising patients, carers and the public.

A subcategory of these are evidence-based software interventions also known as Digital Therapeutics (DTx).

The RCGP is partnering with University of Oxford, Universidad de Navarra, Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Universite Grenoble Alpes and Smarter Futures EESV to co-develop content for an education course on digital therapeutics called Prescribing Digital Therapeutics (PreDiGiT).

PreDiGiT is aimed at preparing GPs and clinical teams across Europe to support patients to access and use these new interventions in a safe way and at the right time to deliver value and improve the health of patients and populations.

Course content will be informed via focus groups with patients and DTx developers. This is the only course on DTx to consider all stakeholders across the health spectrum.

The project will involve healthcare professionals, patients and digital therapeutics (DTx) developers in three ideation events. At each session we will work with patients to identify needs, preferences, levers and barriers in relation to DTx.

This programme is funded by The European Institute of Technology (EIT) Health.
