About the RCGP's Clinical Innovation and Research Centre

The Clinical Innovation and Research Centre (CIRC) works with GPs and practice staff to advance primary care.

Our team:

  • works across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland
  • works in partnership with grant funders, charities and government bodies
  • develops a wide range of innovative resources and events for primary care
  • supports primary health care professionals to change practice and deliver better care

RCGP Clinical Programme Application Process

This year, CIRC is seeking to work in collaboration with GPs, patients, charities and external partners to advance primary care.

Our team:

  • has project management expertise
  • has wide links across the healthcare sector
  • has links to the 55,000 strong RCGP membership
  • works with and develops clinical leadership
  • CIRC has 12 years’ experience managing clinical improvement projects

Your project idea

  • Would you like to improve patient care in a specific clinical area?
  • Would you like to work on a clinical project with potential national impact?
  • Would you like to develop primary healthcare knowledge, research, or innovation?
  • Would you like to work with the experience of our team and networks?
  • Can you secure external funding for your project idea?

Advancing primary care open day

The RCGP’s Clinical Innovation and Research Centre will host a free one-day event for GPs, health charities, national bodies, grant funders, academic and research organisations and others who wish to collaborate with the College to tackle some of the key clinical issues facing primary care. If you are interested in applying, we recommend attending the project open day on Monday 3 February 2020.

Applications are judged by an expert panel including RCGP Officers.

Areas of focus

This year applications are welcome from any clinical topic or area that can demonstrate a strong rationale, and project concept, and one that meets the assessment criteria.

In evaluating projects, the college will give additional emphasis to its two enduring priority areas of focus; Cancer and Mental Health.
