RCGP Wales awards

Quality patient care is a priority for RCGP Wales and it is important to recognise general practice at its best.

The Annual RCGP Wales General Practice Awards create an opportunity for patients to recognise the dedication of those who play an important role in ensuring their quality of care.

This year's awards were held at The Exchange Hotel in Cardiff Bay on Friday 15 November 2019.

At the event Dr Peter Hopkin and Dr Peter Saul, Joint Chairs of RCGP Wales, officiated the ceremony and the awards were presented by the following people:

  • GP of the Year – Professor Mayur Lakhani, President of the RCGP 
  • Practice Team of the Year – Eleri Sion, BBC Radio Wales
  • Student of the Year – Dai Lloyd AM
  • Trainee of the Year – Dai Lloyd AM
  • Thrive GP Award – Dr Richard Lewis
  • Cluster Innovation Award – Vaughan Gething AM 
  • Membership Under Ordinance – Dr Mair Hopkin

The Award Winner was Professor Chris Butler.

Our First Runner Up was Dr George Brand with Dr Noel McLouglin and Dr Dan Cooper awarded joint Second Runner Up.

Tanyfron Surgery was declared the overall Winner of the Award.

St Thomas Surgery was the First Runner Up and Llandrindod Wells Medical Centre Second Runner Up.
