Congratulations to GPs in Queen’s Birthday Honours list

Publication date: 10 October 2020

Responding to the Queen’s Birthday Honours list, published last night, Professor Martin Marshall, Chair of the Royal College of GPs, said: “Many congratulations to all GPs and other primary care colleagues who have been recognised on the Queen’s Birthday Honours list today. The College is delighted that their hard work is being acknowledged in this way.

“This year’s honours also include RCGP Scotland Chair Carey Lunan and Chair of Trustee Board Nigel Mathers who will both be receiving an MBE, former RCGP Chair Clare Gerada who will be receiving a damehood, and RCGP Immunisation Lead, George Kassianos who will be awarded a CBE. Carter Singh, a member of RCGP Council, has also received an MBE.

“These awards are not only a celebration of individual personal achievements but also a reflection of how hard general practice has been working during the pandemic to tackle Covid-19 in the community, and continue to care for patients, with both Covid and non-Covid conditions, in the most challenging of circumstances.”
