Knowing yourself and relating to others
The development of professional expertise throughout training is underpinned by your ability to understand yourself and to relate successfully to other people.
This capability builds throughout the training programme and develops in sophistication and in breadth over time. It often begins with a developing a deeper understanding of the professional self, through reflective practice. It then expands to incorporate relationships within multi-disciplinary teams and, ultimately, the wider healthcare system.
