Tuesday 22nd March 2011 'Working
against the 'C'
This meeting looked at blood borne viruses and in particular how
we can address the prevention, detection and treatment of hepatitis
C in London.
Thursday 11 November 2010 'The recovery
Agenda'
This meeting was lead by the NTA London Regional Lead Alison
Keating and discussed the Recovery Agenda. It actually was a
wid ranging talk as Alison talked about a lot of the changes which
are happening in the wider treatment field in the UK and
espectially in London.
Tuesday 6th July 2010. 'Mother's little helpers; what
to do about those benzodiazepines?'
Dr Chris Ford looked at the management of benzodiazepine
problems, in anticiapation of new guidance about problematic
benzodiazepines use.
Wednesday 17th March 2010 - 'Legal Highs'
Presented by Paolo Deluca, a researcher from the Institute of
Psychiatry.
This meeting looked at some of the common drugs called 'legal
highs'. He explained how they are trying to map the use of
legal highs through the internet - the Pyschonaut Project. He
also showed examples of how 'legal highs' are being promoted
through the internet.
10th November 2009 I Predict a RIOT! -
Injectable Opioid Treatment - RCGP Princes Gate
This PANN meeting looked at the advantages and disadvantages of
IOT firmly as therapy for heroin addiction, the evidence base
and the potential for bias in the scientific evaluation of heroin
treatment. We also considered the current RIOTT study, how it
differs from the old British system of prescribing injectables and
the key findings
14th of July 2009 Alcohol- 'Tackling The
Elephant In The Room' RCGP Princes Gate
This meeting focused on alcohol
misuse, particularly the effect of screening and brief
interventions for alcohol misuse in primary care and how they
may influence practice. The main presenter was Debra
Jeffery, a researcher on the Screening and Intervention
Programme for Sensible Drinking (SIPS) research programme at the
Institute of Psychiatry. Jo Betterton from the RCGP Substance
Misuse Unit also introduced the new RCGP alcohol
certificate."
