Is the library
catalogue available online?
The RCGP Library Catalogue contains articles, books and
reports that relate to the place of general practice within the
health service, and the role of the College within general
practice. You will be required to enter your member’s username and
password. The catalogue is only available to College members.
Can I request material from the library
online?
The RCGP online catalogue allows readers to search and
print results from the RCGP catalogue. Members may request to
borrow up to four books. (Username and password required in order
to use the catalogue).
What is held in the library
collection?
Library stock includes a unique reference collection of MD and
PhD Theses from General Practice, an international selection of
primary care journals, and a loan collection of College
publications. The Library Catalogue contains material that traces
the evolution of General Practice and Primary Care within the
National Health Service, and contains many articles, reports and
books by Members of the College. Members may request articles and
loans from stock using the online catalogue.
What can I loan from the
library?
College publications are available for loan to members and
non-members. Other items from stock are available to members
only.
Members may borrow up to 4 items from the library for a period of 4
weeks.
Non-members may borrow 4 College Publications for a period of 4
weeks.
Non-stock items can be ordered through our Inter-Library Loan
service for which there is a charge.
If I want some articles from medical
journals, can you provide these for me and is there a
charge?
We offer a photocopy service for articles from our journal
collection and will supply non-stock items through our
Inter-Library loan service for which there is a charge. Details of
library charges can be found on the Library section of the College
website.
When can I visit the library?
Library opening times are Monday to Friday, 9.00 to 5.00, by
appointment for non-members.
