About the Faculty
The International Faculty supports almost 3000 international members, international Fellows and UK doctors located overseas.
We rely on members to play an active role locally, promoting the College aims and objectives. It is essential to raise and maintain awareness of demographic issues and needs of family doctors and patients alike, and develop initiatives to support these.
If you would like to find out more about becoming involved with the faculty we would be delighted to hear from you.
RCGP International has already started to promote twinning arrangements and wishes to increase those faculties with twinning arrangements.
At the moment we have North East London Faculty twinning with Oman, Midland Faculty with South Asia, Thames Valley and East Anglia Faculty twinned with Myanmar, and there are other opportunities being discussed with more of our faculties.
Twinning arrangements present an opportunity for local UK faculties to utilise and develop the international experience and knowledge within its local membership. Please contact us for more information.
A Fellow of the College exemplifies its motto ‘cum scientia caritas’, and is an ambassador for the College’s standards and values in whom the College is happy to signal its pride. The College’s first Fellows were elected in 1969.
Fellowship is an honour, denoting the esteem in which a Member is held by his or her peers. It is a mark of achievement to which every Member should aspire and from which no Member should be debarred solely by circumstance.
Fellowship can be merited both by the breadth and the depth of achievement. Some Fellows earn recognition for contributions made in a number of areas and over extended periods of time. For others, Fellowship is an accolade marking outstanding and far-reaching achievement in a relatively narrow field.
