Diploma Sports and Exercise Medicine
Applications are now being considered for September 2010 entry to
the longest established course in Sports and Exercise Medicine in
the UK for medical graduates. The programme includes a
comprehensive variety of modules that can be undertaken on a full
(one year) or part-time basis (up to four years).This scientific
foundation is supplemented by practical experience in our own and
recognized specialist clinics. At the last Olympic Games,14
graduates from the course were working with the Great Britain and
other national Olympic teams. Other graduates include the current
England team doctors for rugby union (men and women),premier league
football medical directors and the CMO for London 2012.Students
normally get the opportunity to gain experience working with teams
and at major sporting events such as the London Marathon. The
lecture programme is second to none and is strongly supported by
specialist external speakers and researchers. Research themes
within the department include disorders of the shoulder,
tendinopathy and exercise induced leg pain and physical activity
levels in the general population,although you may pursue any area
of interest under the guidance of your supervisor. The course is
ideally structured for those who wish to work or study in this area

COURSES FOR GPS
This one day practical skills training day course is aimed at
General Practitioners with an interest in ENT. The course aims to
reinforce the basic concepts and techniques in ENT, train
participants in the use of instrumentation used in ENT surgery and
to teach basic skills in tissue handling. Fee £95. Legal Aspects of

The Membership Examination (MFSRH) consists of: Part 1
Multiple Choice Question paper (MCQ) The London based examination
will be held in April 2011, (applications by 1st January 2011), and
in October 2011 (applications by 1 July 2011). Evidence Based
Commentary (EBC) The released EBC topic and candidate guidance
notes for EBC is available on the Faculty website. There is an
absolute deadline of 31 August 2010 to submit the EBC on this
topic. Part 2 Examination (CRQ, EMQ, OSCE) This all day exam
consists of: Critical Reading Question examination paper (CRQ)
Short Answer Question examination paper (EMQ) Objective Structured
Clinical Examination (OSCE) The new Part 2 syllabus can be seen on
the Faculty website in June 2010, along with the revised
Examination Regulations. Applications for the MFSRH Part 2 held in
June 2011 must be received by 3 January 2011. The qualification is
subject to recertification every 5 years. For the current MFSRH
