Practice
Accreditation
The RCGP Practice
Accreditation (PA) is a voluntary quality improvement scheme that
will support the organisational development of practice teams
across England.
The RCGP Practice Accreditation award is a thoroughly tested
framework that enables practice teams to improve their
organisational quality of care. The straightforward process has
been designed to be manageable for practices of all sizes. Forward
looking practices will start to see immediate benefits by
progressing towards accreditation. As shown below, the journey to
accreditation is in itself a valuable management tool that delivers
an identifiable return on investment.
The Royal College of General Practitioners Practice
Accreditation award is a tangible sign of your commitment to
continuous improvement in patient-centred care. Your success as an
effective practice team will be clear to all your stakeholders with
the highly visible RCGP Practice Accreditation logo on your
stationery and by displaying your Practice Accreditation
certificate. The benefits of accreditation are wide-ranging in
terms of quality assurance, compliance, shared learning and
improvement.
The Accreditation Journey
The Practice Accreditation standards have been developed in
partnership with the University of Manchester, and in collaboration
with the General Medical Council, Royal College of Nursing, Care
Quality Commission, Department of Health, NHS Confederation Primary
Care Trusts and patient groups. The standards reflect key aspects
of primary care, particularly the organisational systems and
processes that ensure delivery of safe and quality care, facilitate
ongoing team development and recognise the contribution to quality
improvement that can be made by the whole practice team.
