Programme Information
The RCGP Leadership Programme is run a twelve month period
starting in January 2011 and includes:
- Residential Workshops– a stimulating mixture
of theory input; discussion and debate; reflection on work
undertaken in the real world; observation and feedback from peers
and tutors
- Tutorial Days – an opportunity to reflect on
experience and ensure that learning is consolidated and meshes with
the demand of the participants’ local situation
- Supported Learning – a programme of reading
and visits including access to on-line coaching.

The focus at all stages is on improving effectiveness in the
local health community. This combination of learning approaches
ensures that participants are supported over the whole twelve month
period and that their learning is consolidated and integrated with
learning to lead locally and becomes part of their everyday
behaviour.
One significant feature of the programme is a number of renowned
and influential individuals who are keen to contribute their own
reflections and indeed some of their own contacts and networks to
help participants become as influential and effective as possible.
The programme continues to support participants once they have
become alumni. Previous cohorts have remained actively involved and
continue to work with us as alumni, to grow in their local
leadership roles and further develop their skills.
