RCGP Northern Ireland Devolved Council
The Future of General Practice: A 10 Year
Strategy
This strategy was developed to demonstrate how GPs could
provide leadership and accountability to areas of change within the
health service. The essence of the strategy is to provide GPs with
the vision and confidence to become more pro-active in providing
for the future direction of general practice.
Political and key stakeholder
engagement
GP members engage with politicians and decision makers to
ensure that the viewpoint of RCGP Northern Ireland is always at the
forefront of all proposed health policy changes. In addition a
number of GPs have been media trained to allow RCGP Northern
Ireland the opportunity to offer a voice on health issues through
the role of the media.
Northern Ireland Manifesto
The RCGP Northern Ireland Manifesto has been published to
highlight key priorities and policy areas which the members would
like to influence over the next number of years.
Consultations
With the development of a new Consultations Policy for
2011 the aim is to provide local members with the opportunities to
shape and influence the development of health policy effecting
general practice.
CPD Events
RCGP Northern Ireland offers a wide range of events for
members who wish to develop their knowledge further in certain
subjects. These events have ranged from Mental Health to Thrombosis
and Dementia. RCGP Northern Ireland continues to support and
provide events for Associates in Training (AiT) to prepare for life
as a qualified GP.
