Reducing Carbon Footprint in Primary Care
Calculate the carbon footprint of your
practice with our new tool.
The NHS produces more carbon emissions than any other public sector
organisation in Europe. It has a carbon footprint of around 18
million tonnes CO2 per year.

The RCGP is committed to addressing the greenhouse gas emissions
associated with the activities of GPs. We commissioned
sustainability experts Best Foot Forward to develop the GP
Footprinter Reporter, an innovative and user-friendly web-based
tool which was developed in close association with a small number
of GP practices. The tool is designed to help you rapidly measure
and track your practice's greenhouse gas emissions, set targets and
identify actions for reducing them, without being an environmental
expert.
The tool is now ready for use and is being piloted by 100
practices who have been given a free 12 month licence.
If you are taking part in the pilot and want to access the GP
Footprinter Reporter, click the link below. You will also
find a guide that will help you use the software and collect
the information you need to establish your baseline footprint.

If you are not part of the pilot but are interested in using the
Footprinter, please email footprinter@rcgp.org.uk for
