RCGP resources: knowledge and information

There a wide range of RCGP knowledge and information resources already available. EGP is just one of the many types of support the RCGP provides to help GPs keep up to date. Most College members are probably not aware of the strength and range of the information and library resources within the RCGP from which  GPs can obtain knowledge and information about best practice. The list below summarises some of the RCGP sources that you can access now or that will soon be available:

1. Knowledge and Information resources – already existing and being evolved:

Enquiry Service – by phone 0845 4564041 or email info@rcgp.org.uk

Journal Watch – a ‘members only’ monthly digest of current research in general practice and primary care. Articles are selected from the core collection of journals held by the RCGP Library and not all feature in Medline or other databases. Access to the full-text of each article is offered through our e-journals portal. Select e-journals portal from the menu and login as a member. To subscribe please email jwatch@rcgp.org.uk

Seven Days - Seven Days is a free weekly electronic bulletin that aims to help RCGP members keep up-to-date as to professional news, guidance and policy in general practice. Every Friday an e-mail alert is sent to subscribers with a contents list and a link to the full bulletin. To subscribe please email sevendays@rcgp.org.uk  Simply state your name and RCGP membership number/GMC number in the main body of the text.

The Phased Evaluation Programme (PEP) e-kit and nPEP from RCGP Scotland are multiple choice based knowledge self-assessment packages. nPEP is predominantly an Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) aimed mainly at Specialist Registrars in General Practice (SpR GP). Any GP in the UK can use them - they’re good so take a look: http://www.pep-ekit.org.uk/  or for more information contact  pep@rcgp-scotland.org.uk
