Commission on Generalism Consultation

The Commission on Generalism is now seeking views on medical generalism and the role of the generalist in today’s healthcare system.

The RCGP is undertaking an extensive consultation to inform our official response to the recommendations and our report, which will be released in 2012. We are keen to hear from as many RCGP members, medical professionals and other stakeholders as possible. There are a number of ways in which you can take part in this process:

On-line survey

Our online survey only takes 15 minutes and can be found here.

Listening events

The RCGP is running six evening listening exercises across the UK during October and November. These are being held in the following locations:

  • London, 24 October (18:00 – 20:00, RCGP - 1 Bow Churchyard)
  • Cardiff, 27 October (18:00 – 20:00, Village Hotel and Leisure Club, Cardiff)
  • Manchester, 3 November (18:00 – 20:00, The Portland Hotel)
  • Glasgow, 9 November (18:00 – 20:00, Thistle Glasgow, Cambridge Street)
  • Portsmouth, 14 November (18:00 – 20:00, Portsmouth Hilton)
  • Belfast, 16 November (18:30 – 20:30, Holiday Inn, 22 Ormeau Avenue)

These events are an opportunity to discuss with the College the recommendations and implications of the independent report, and the main issues for generalism today and in the future. The events will help inform our early thinking on the report’s recommendations and feed into the wider consultation.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Refreshments and food will be provided and the RCGP will reimburse travel expenses.
