The College lectures
are prestigious events. Lecturers are decided two years in
advance when the Awards Committee makes recommendations to Council.
The College maintains a database of possible suitable
candidates.
The recipient is invited
to give the James Mackenzie Lecture at the Annual General
Meeting.
Nominations for the
lecturer are submitted to the Awards Committee of the College. The
topic of the lecture usually relates to an aspect of clinical
medicine.
The recipient of this award is invited to give
the William Pickles Lecture at the Spring General Meeting.
Nominations for the lecturer are submitted to

usually relates to education.
Award: Silver medal with the
College Coat of Arms.
This lecture was
established in 1992 to celebrate the College’s fortieth year. It is
delivered by someone who is not medically qualified as a general
practitioner/family doctor. The inaugural John Hunt Lecture
was given by HRH The Prince of Wales. It is a prestigious lecture
and is normally given during each College Presidency.
