RCGP Seeks EDAs to Assess the Egypt MRCGP[INT]
Examination
18th May 2009
The MRCGP [International] Board is seeking two
Examination Development Assessors (EDAs) to assess the Egyptian
Board of Medicine (BoM) Family Medicine Examination for
accreditation with the MRCGP[INT].
This examination has been specifically
developed during the past year by the Family Medicine Examination
Team of the Egyptian BoM for the Egyptian Ministry of Health and
Population [MoHP] with the assistance of an expert team of
MRCGP[INT] International Development Advisors from the RCGP. This
examination will be the licensing examination for Family Doctors in
Egypt.
The role will involve a one week visit to
Egypt in November 2009 to assess all aspects of the exam and
provide a Recommendation Report to the MRCGP[INT] Board. The visit
provides a key component of the MRCGP [INT] contract between the
Egypt MoHP and the RCGP addressing the academic and contractual
requirements for MRCGP[INT] accreditation.

Developed by the RCGP, the award of MRCGP[INT]
provides accreditation of locally developed examinations in Family
Medicine/General Practice to the level of the MRCGP in the UK, but
specifically designed to be appropriate for the local context of
the discipline. The MRCGP[INT] provides successful candidates with
International Membership of the Royal College and is equivalent in
status to qualifications in hospital-based specialties.
The RCGP has become increasingly aware of the
need for high quality postgraduate assessments to be developed at a
national or regional level in different parts of the world,
tailored to local needs, educational systems and practices. It
enables a country or region to develop an examination at the same
level and academic rigour as the MRCGP in the UK.
