March Deadline Looms for RCGP President and College Council

RCGP members have until 31st March to submit
their nominations for the College's next president and six College
Council Members.
Current President Professor David Haslam will
complete his term of office at the Annual General Meeting on Friday
20th November 2009, and nominations are now being sought
for the period 2009-2012. College Members may propose another for
election, and all presidential nominations must be signed by twelve
Members in good standing.
The AGM also sees the retirement of six
nationally-elected College Council members. Six new Members are
therefore being sought to serve on the Council for 2009 -
2012. Any Fellow or Member of the College may propose another
for election to one of the six vacancies.

Postal Ballot
If more than one nomination is received voting
papers for a ballot will be sent to Fellows and Members in April. A
single transferable vote system will be used for the election.
Candidates will be informed of the results in the week before the
June Meeting of Council on 13th June 2009. The result will
then be announced at the June Meeting and published in the
British Journal of General Practice.
