Clinical Lead Sought for ‘Improving Access, Responding
to Patients’ Education Programme
28th August 2009
The RCGP is developing a programme of national
events to support GP practices to respond more effectively to
patients’ needs and preferences.
The initiative has been prepared in
partnership with the British Medical Association (BMA), and derives
from the Department of Health’s GP Access Programme strategy. A
significant element of the Programme has been the delivery of a
‘how-to’ guide for GP practices to support the development of more
responsive services. ‘Improving access, responding to patients – a
‘how-to’ guide for practices’ was launched in July 2009. The guide
draws together existing good practice from the NHS to produce a
single source document for all GP practices.
The RCGP is seeking a GP Clinical Lead to work
on the content of the Access Guide and to train a group of
facilitators to deliver a series of workshops in England to support
the launch of the guide.
We anticipate a commitment of approximately 12
sessions (£183 per session – 0.5 day) over the first six months of
the project and will reimburse travel and subsistence expenses.
This could be flexible within the constraints
of the need to attend specified meetings.
A Steering Group is scheduled to meet three
times during the project period. The first meeting is scheduled for
Thursday 24 September 2009 at 15:00 and will be
held at the RCGP offices, Princes Gate, London.
