Professor Yvonne Carter
26th October 2009
A joint message from RCGP Chairman Professor
Steve Field and RCGP President Professor David Haslam.
It is with great sadness that we announce the
death of our dear friend Professor Yvonne Carter who passed
away last Tuesday after losing her battle with breast cancer.
A working GP for more than 20 years, she was a
former member of RCGP Council and a great supporter of the College.
Well-known and loved as Dean of Warwick Medical School from 2004 to
2009 and Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University from 2007-2009,
Yvonne was one of the UK’s leading and best known medical
academics. She was an inspirational leader, loyal colleague and
true friend and will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with her husband Michael, son
Christopher and sister Alma at this sad time. We will be attending
Yvonne’s funeral on Wednesday and have added our tributes to the
Warwick University website that has been set up in her honour:

Yvonne’s family have requested that
contributions in her memory are made to Cancer Research or the
Yvonne Carter Memorial Fund which is being established by the
University to support Warwick Medical School students throughout
their studies.
