RCGP hosts seminar on clinical leadership and engagement in primary care

26 September 2006

To emphasise the importance of the GP voice in the new primary care trusts, the RCGP hosted a seminar on 20th September 2006.

Around 35 people including GPs, PEC Chairs, clinical leaders from primary care and the Prime Minister’s health adviser Professor Paul Corrigan debated key issues around clinical leadership and engagement and the most effective ways of promoting this.

This was the third in a series of RCGP “summits” aimed at giving GPs and primary care leaders an opportunity to discuss and share their views on key issues in general practice.

RCGP Chairman Professor Mayur Lakhani said: “The GP voice is crucial to the success of the new primary care trusts. Leadership from local GPs is essential and the College is keen to support GP leaders in the new arrangements. The seminar has provided us with many ideas and we will now be looking at ways of taking these forward.”
