Entries sought for Research Paper of the Year Award 2007

Nominations are now being accepted for the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) Research Paper of the Year Award 2007.

Sponsored by Merck, Sharp & Dohme, the award is now in its twelfth year. It recognises an exceptional piece of original research relating to general practice or primary care.

Judges will consider research papers from the UK and Republic of Ireland that have been published in a peer reviewed journal during 2007, demonstrate high quality research and contribute to the standing of general practice and primary care within the academic medical community.

The winning author will receive a cheque for £1,000 which will be presented at the Research Paper of the Year Dinner and Award ceremony on Wednesday 11 June 2008.

Professor Nigel Mathers, Chair of the RCGP Clinical Innovation & Research Centre (CIRC), says: “The RCGP is delighted to be able to offer this award to showcase the high-quality research that is currently being undertaken within general practice and primary care.

“We would encourage practitioners to support the award by nominating a paper that has particularly impressed them.”

The closing date for entries is Thursday 10 January 2008. To find out more, or to nominate a research paper, please email RPY@rcgp.org.uk or call 020 3170 8231
