RCGP President takes up post as Vice-Chair of the
Academy of Medical Royal Colleges
Professor David Haslam CBE has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the
Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AOMRC).
President of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and
a GP in Cambridgeshire, Professor Haslam’s appointment will put
general practice at the heart of the Academy’s work.
The Academy brings together the UK’s Medical Royal Colleges, as
well as the Faculties of Accident & Emergency Medicine, Dental
Surgery, Occupational Medicine, Pharmaceutical Medicine and Public
Health.
Professor Haslam is a National Clinical Advisor to the Healthcare
Commission and visiting Professor at De Montfort University,
Leicester. He is a member of the PMETB Board, Co-Chair of the MMC
Programme Board and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and
the Faculty of Public Health.
Professor Haslam was Chairman of the RCGP from 2001-2004 and
received his CBE in 2004 for services to Medicine and Health
Care.
Professor Dame Carol Black, Chairman of the
Academy said; “I am delighted David has been elected Vice-Chairman
along with Dr Judith Hulf, President of the Royal College of
Anaesthetists. I’m really looking forward to working with both of
them and have no doubt their experience and expertise will greatly
assist the Academy with its work.”
