College consults on Trustee Board proposals
03/01/12
RCGP is consulting members on moving its
charity trustee reponsibility from College Council to a smaller
Trustee Board.
Following a successful pilot, members are urged to have their
say on proposals as part of a consultation process which ends on 31
January 2012. Responses can be submitted online, or in writing,
with results fed back to College Council.
RCGP Honorary Secretary, Professor Amanda Howe, said: “The
Charity Commission encourages charities to have trustee bodies
which are as small as reasonably practical, bearing in mind the
size and scope of the organisation.
“Most Council members are primarily interested in areas of the
College’s work that address professional issues for GPs and their
patients, and they seek election or nomination with this in
mind.
“Looking at how we can deliver a faster and more efficient
service to our Members is part of a wider Governance Review of the
College. I hope that as many of our Members and Fellows as
possible will respond to our consultation about how the RCGP
operates in future.”
