RCGP launches 2012 schedule of One-Day Essentials
The RCGP’s successful One-Day Essentials
series of events is back in 2012 with a busy programme of clinical
conferences for GPs and their colleagues in primary care.
The series, launched in 2011, aims to provide essential
information on specific clinical topics in just one day. Open to
RCGP members and non-members alike, the programme has been expanded
in 2012 following excellent feedback and demand.
Twelve events have been confirmed, covering:
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Obesity
- Addiction
- Commissioning
- Women’s health
- Diabetes
- Dementia
- Pain management
- Cancer
- Musculoskeletal
- Cardiovascular disease
As well as equipping GPs and their colleagues with the
information and skills to improve patient outcomes in these key
areas, the events offer opportunities for members of the primary
care team to network and share ideas.
The series was originally developed from the clinical sessions at
the RCGP Annual Conferences. Feedback since the series was launched
has shown that the one-day format helps GPs improve their
knowledge, without taking too much time away from their
practice.
Dr Clare Gerada, Chair of the RCGP said: “The success of last
year’s One-Day Essentials showed that there is a real need and
desire for this kind of practical CPD amongst GPs and their
colleagues.
“The College works hard to develop a range of learning
resources, to give GPs choice and flexibility. The One-Day
Essentials are another successful part of this approach, to go
alongside our e-learning courses, books and guidance
materials.”
The first One-Day Essentials event of 2012 covers
Gastrointestinal disorders, and will take place on Tuesday 21
February at The Barbican in London. More information including the
full schedule and details of how to book online can be found at
