RCGP releases additional revalidation resources
Publication date: 01 July 2013
New resources for GPs preparing for revalidation have been released by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
The resources are designed to help make revalidation a positive and rewarding experience for GPs and complement the RCGP Guide to Revalidation and RCGP Revalidation ePortfolio.
Working GPs with a special interest in revalidation have helped produce the resources, which include example portfolios, toolkits and an extensive Q&A document.
The realistic example portfolios cover a wide range of GP specialties, including out of hours GPs, GPs with special interests, and academic GPs and come complete with annotated feedback by experts.
The 5 toolkits cover:
- quality improvement
- significant event audits
- impact credits
Finally, the extensive question and answer bank builds on the existing FAQ section, already available on the RCGP website. It includes case studies and hypothetical scenarios to help illustrate some common and less common examples of general practice and how to properly record it.
There are plans to continuously add to this rich bank of resources, which are available to all RCGP members.
Prof. Nigel Sparrow, RCGP Revalidation Lead said:
"I am confident that these excellent additional resources will make revalidation as supportive and stress-free as possible for all our members and any GPs going through revalidation.
"They demonstrate that the College is leading the way in revalidation and the professional development of GPs in the UK."
